Before transitioning into broadcasting, Owain enjoyed a successful professional football career, playing for clubs including Swansea City, Norwich City, and Brentford, and earning caps for the Wales national team over a decade-long career, which was cut short by injury.
Since retiring from football, Owain has established himself as a versatile and engaging media personality, working fluently in both English and Welsh across television and radio. In 2017, he launched and produced The Longman’s Football World Podcast, which ran for 64 episodes. He has also expanded into entertainment, appearing on popular Welsh-language programmes such as ‘Iaith ar Daith’ alongside former Wales manager Chris Coleman, and hosting ‘Dathlu Dewrder’ (the Welsh version of the ‘Pride of Britain Awards’) from 2020 to 2023. His on-screen presence has also led to acting appearances, playing himself in S4C comedy dramas including Anita and Maggi Noggi.
Away from the studio, Owain is a keen hiker & passionate golfer and continues to bring energy, insight, and authenticity to all aspects of his broadcasting work.
