Abbie wakes up Northern England most days with BBC Breakfast TV & radio weather forecasts spanning from North Norfolk to the Scottish border. She has spent her years as a forecaster making regular digital content on weather & climate change, which has led to being featured in Hello! Magazine as a contributor and BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat & Life Hacks as an expert in the field. She’s been a real trail blazer in combining her BBC presenting job with the ever-changing world of social media, something that came naturally to her being the youngest ever BBC weather presenter at the age of 22.
Abbie was also on the presenting line up at the prestigious tennis championships, Wimbledon for 2023 as their environment reporter highlighting the need for conversations around climate change and sustainability within sport.
Abbie has built up an impressive TikTok following with 1.5 million likes on her personal account with her most popular video alone gaining over 3.4 million views.
Having spent a few years early on in her career covering motorsport on Sky TV, British weather & sport, particularly motorsport is something Abbie is all too familiar with. Often found in the depths of Kielder Forest or the Brecon Beacons during a weekend covering rally championships or track sprint series’, Abbie had an adrenaline filled few years to launch her into the wonderful world of sports broadcasting.
Abbie’s varied broadcasting career is a good representation of her personality being a northern country girl who grew up loving sport, fashion, performing, playing the drums and generally being outdoors…and the centre of attention! She’s always up for trying new things and is currently renovating a 19thcentury cottage, learning lots of new DIY skills and spending weekends scouring antiques fairs and second hand shops for treasures. She is also obsessed with the world of weightlifting and Crossfit. Abbie is also proud dog mum to her rescue dog, Ruby who made many an appearance on lockdown broadcasts from home. She feels very strongly about the ‘adopt don’t shop’ mantra when it comes to pets.
