Carlos joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 as one of four new professional dancers. In his debut year, he partnered with Molly Rainford, guiding her to the final and finishing as a runner-up. He followed this success the following year by guiding Angela Scanlon to sixth place.
Moving to the UK, Carlos felt he could be his authentic self, able to express his sexuality in a way which was not possible in China. This story of creative rebirth inspired the “Amy & Carlos REBORN” tour in 2025, co-starring with fellow Strictly pro Amy Dowden. The show is a heartfelt celebration of resilience and transformation. Away from the dancefloor, the pair also teamed up in 2025 for Celebrity Hunted for Stand Up to Cancer on Channel 4.
